Key West Tops Florida’s Most Expensive Destinations in Terms of Hotel Rates
April 3, 2013Thanks to its tropical location, Key West, at the southernmost tip of the Florida Keys, has earned the distinction of being the priciest Florida destination to stay overnight in a hotel room. That’s the takeaway of a new survey conducted by MiamiHotels.org. The survey specifically examined the high beach season of January to March 2013. It then ranked Florida’s cities based on the cost of their average hotel room.
To stay overnight in Key West, guests had to pay an average of $254, and that was if they happened to snag the city’s cheapest available 3-star hotel room. Not too far behind in the state’s second and third slots were Marco Island and Palm Beach. Attractive locations in the Gulf of Mexico, near Naples, and along the easternmost Florida coastline pushed these destinations close to the top at averages of $242 and $236 per night, respectively.
The following table shows the 20 most expensive destinations in Florida based on the average rate for the cheapest available double room (minimum: 3-star hotel) there for the time period spanning January–March 2013.
