The southeast coast of Florida, stretching from Palm Beach down to Miami, is a hugely popular destination thanks to its year-round sunshine, hedonistic nightlife, and vibrant arts and cultural scene. The region also plays host to vast numbers of festivals each year, including several music festivals spanning every genre under the sun, from pumping rock to rhythmic soul to Caribbean-inspired tunes.

Soak Miami Water Music Festival

Billed as the ultimate outdoor water festival, this raucous one-day event makes the very most of the glorious south Florida weather by combining top-class live open-air music acts with the time-honoured summer tradition of good natured water fights. On entry, each visitor is furnished with a range of equipment, including water balloons, water guns, large sponges, goggles, and even water resistant phone cases so you can take snaps and stick them straight on social media. Fun-packed, aquatic-themed events and activities include a water trampoline, balloon dodgeball, water slides and more. For the more sedate minded, there are also cabanas and a swim up bar.

Sandz Caribbean Music Festival

Now into its seventh year, this Jamaican-themed party is designed to give locals an authentic taste of Caribbean culture, music and entertainment. The high-energy event has featured notable musical names since its inaugural edition and continues to attract large crowds to the green expanse of Snyder Park in Fort Lauderdale. Indeed, so successful has the party been that last year it headed to New York for the first time, demonstrating the show’s evolution into a major highlight of the summer calendar.

Held over a captivating evening at one of Miami’s most popular night spots, the event is designed to raise money for the “Keeping Hope Alive Foundation” and its mission to provide help for homeless people – a worthy cause and the perfect excuse to go along yourself.

Around the World Music

Sundown Fest

Come and celebrate the start of summer at Wynwood Spot, which for one day only is transformed into a mecca for art, music and food. Visitors can look forward to performances by acclaimed musical acts including Zaniyah, AstertheGemini and SLWJMZ performing across one stage throughout the evening. If you’ve always fancied indulging in some body ink – or want to add to your existing personal portfolio – there’s also a dedicated on-site tattoo artist.

Haitian American Music Festival

Florida has a rich Haitian heritage and even boasts its own ‘Little Haiti’ district. A few years ago this vibrant demographic was given the ultimate tribute – a festival in its name. Over the past few years the Haitian American Music Festival has become an eagerly awaited event on Florida’s cultural calendar, with visitors festooned with authentic Haitian food, drink, arts, crafts, live music and more. Artists and bands scheduled to appear this year include ‪Djakout, Carimi, Nixon Mesidor, Klass, T-Vice, NuLook, Arly Lariviere, Gabel and Pikan Band.

South Miami Mango & Music Festival

This family-friendly festival celebrates all things mango, the popular Asian fruit that revellers can enjoy in almost any form they wish – whether it’s mango smoothie, mango cake, mango rice – all available at affordable prices. But there’s more than just fruit to savour at this popular summer event. There are also live bands, games, and plenty more – oh and a mango eating contest and mango relay, just to return to the prevailing theme of the day.

Toasted Miami

Another of Miami’s myriad of Caribbean-themed summer festivals, Toasted Miami returns this July to once again pay tribute to the cherished motherland. Visitors are encouraged to come dressed for the occasion by donning traditional colourful African attire. But make sure it’s comfortable, as there’ll be rhythmic sounds of all genres delivered by south Florida’s top DJs to dance to all night long.

Peace of Woodstock

As the old joke goes, you’ll know when you meet someone who was at Woodstock, because they’ll tell you within five minutes. This summer event celebrates the iconic music festival by recreating the sounds and feel of the event. Various tribute acts will be in attendance to help create a truly resonant atmosphere. Reserved seats are subject to a $15 minimum food and beverage spend per person.

Gulf Coast Jam 

This three-day country music festival takes place each year over Labor Day weekend in one of Florida’s most beautiful beach locations. Festivalgoers travel in their droves from across America for the occasion, not only to enjoy the top class country music but for a magical beach vacation too. The 2019 edition will feature highly acclaimed musical names including Kid Rock, Jason Aldean and Tim McGraw.
