  Art Deco Weekend Festival   South Beach Dachshund Winterfest
Running for over 25 years, this festival is a delight of film, art, music and parades. This festival celebrates Miami’s art deco era and is hosted by the Miami Design Preservation League.    
Hosted by the Tides Hotel, this upper-end dog show is more of an excuse for the upper end of Miami’s residents to get together. The show includes champagne and festivities along South Beach.

   Coral Gables Bluesfest   Miami International Boat Show
One of Miami’s most famous establishments, Fritz & Franz Bierhaus, hosts this annual blues band event. Local blues bands entertain the crowds while German, Austrian and Bavarian refreshments are served.    
For boat enthusiasts, this show has more than 2,000 exhibitors showing off their powerboats, sailboats and accessories.

  Miami International Film Festival   Asian Culture Festival
For those with amore niche taste in films, the MIFF screens a selection of films of a more artistic nature.  Presented by Miami Dade College, this festival gives tourists a unique insight into Miami’s arts culture.    
Hosted at Homestead’s Fruit and Spice Park, the Asian-American community of Miami show off their food, culture crafts and music. This is another treat for those looking to learn more about the lesser-known Miami cultures.

   Major League Baseball   Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival
As one of the biggest American pastimes, the start of the baseball season is a huge event. The weather is mild and the hot dogs and candy apples are fresh.    
Hosted at The Regal, Gusman and Colony Theatres, this film festival screens gay and lesbian-themed movies from around the world.

  Miami Fashion Week of the Americas   Great Sunrise Balloon Race
Taking place every year on Miami Beach, this festival showcases the very latest and best fashion from around Latin America, Asia, Europe and Caribbean.    
Providing incredible photo opportunities, this balloon race covers the sky in hundreds of hot air balloons.  
             
   June
   Florida Dance Festival   Lizard Day
The Florida Dance Festival celebrates all genres of dance – from modern and ballet to disabled and cultural. The festival has been running for 25 years and has grown into one of the most incredible scenes in the Miami calendar.     
Hosted at the Miami Museum of Science & Planetarium, children bring their pet lizards for a series of competitions and games with other lizards. Those without lizards are also welcome.   
             
  July
   International Mango Festival   Peruvian Independence Day Festival
This is one of the more quirky festivals on the Miami calendar and is a festival dedicated to mangos. Held at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, the event is a weekend of tree sales, lectures and mango tastings.    
The Fair Expo Centre is the host of this annual celebration. Visitors are entertained by Peruvian arts, crafts, music and food and provide a day of great fun and tastes.  
             
   August
  Summer Splash Wet Fete   Super Sand Blast
This event is for visitors who are more interested in the summer fun provided by Miami. This includes a wet t-shirt contest, rum punch wrestling and other water entertainment.    
Another summer-fun must in Miami is this sand building contest open to everyone. Castles are built by kids and experts alike and this includes free refreshments for participants, music and other entertainment.

  National Football League   Music Fest
Another culture entrenched in American society is the NFL. Local team Miami Dolphins kicks off the season to what is usually a sell-out crowd. Early booking is essential.    
Music lovers are treated to a festival of reggae, salsa, jazz and other musical genres. Visitors are encouraged to bring along picnic baskets and blankets.

  Columbus Day Regatta   Discovery of America Day
This boat race of over 200 sailboats attracts thousands of spectators. The race covers mant boat classes and is from north to south and back again on Buscayne Bay over the entire    
This festival re-enacts Christopher Columbus’ discovery of the Americas where visitors are treated to a day of music, entertainment, culture and food.  
             
  November
  NASCAR Nextel Cup Series: Ford 400   Winter National Thanksgiving Day Parade
Thousands upon thousands of racing fans flock to the Homestead Miami Speedway for the annual NASCAR race. Tickets go on sale early and visitors should make a whole day of this experience.     
This Thanksgiving Day parade attracts thousands of people on bikes, floats and foot. The streets are lined with arts and crafts and the festivities go late into the night.

  Festival of Carols   New Year’s at Vizcaya
This festival includes carol singers from around Miami as well as a holiday light display during the evening time. This is the perfect place to get into the holiday spirit.    
Anyone over the age of 21 can attend this New Yzear’s event. This includes a midnight champagne toast and live entertainment and is a perfect way to welcome in the new year in Miami style.
